Alcatel’s new lineup revealed ahead of MWC, Idol 4S packaging will double as a Cardboard viewer

Alcatel’s upcoming Idol 4 and 4S were fully leaked by their own support site last week. Today, their full lineup of phones and tablets coming in various ranges have been revealed in a VentureBeat report ahead of MWC.

The report reaffirms what we already know about the next generation of Idol phones. The Idol 4S will be their flagship device with a 5.5-inch quad HD display and Snapdragon 652 processor. The device’s 16 megapixel camera can be activated via a dedicated hardware button. However, the most interesting part of the 4S is how its plastic packaging will double as a Google Cardboard viewer and be priced at under $400. The lower-end Idol 4 with a 5.2-inch display and $250 price point will not include a viewer.

The company’s mid-range lineup will feature the Pop 4 and 4S. The Pop 4 will hit an impressive sub-$100 price point and feature a 5-inch 720p display with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and an 8MP camera. The Pop 4 will be available next month, while the higher end Pop 4S with a 5.5-inch 1080p display will be available in May with the rest of the Idol line.

While Android tablets have yet to take off due to a lack of software, Alcatel will be introducing a full lineup of tablets with screen sizes ranging from 6 to 10-inches. The most interesting tablet will be a Microsoft Surface-like 10.1-inch Plus 10 tablet with stylus support, a keyboard accessory, and LTE available in March.

More details of these products will be revealed at Mobile World Congress starting on February 21st.
