A couple of fresh leaks this morning suggest the Samsung Galaxy S7 range will see a return to a more traditional color scheme. A press render from oft-reliable Evan Blass reveals a dark gray model, while a retail dummy phone unit leaked by Pisapapeles shows a gold version of the device.
Thanks to a previous hands-on leak of the actual device, we already assumed we’d see a glossy black model from Samsung. What’s more, the first leaked press renders revealed a gold version of the larger Galaxy S7 Edge.
Samsung’s Galaxy S7 launch event is just under a couple of weeks away, and as such, the number of leaks is continuing to rise. Yesterday, we saw a list of the official first-party cases Samsung plans to launch alongside the device, as well as a selection of the smartphone’s preloaded wallpapers. As well as those, an FCC filing revealed the device will likely have a large 3,600mAh battery.

While it’s not likely to be a huge departure from the design of the Galaxy S6, it sounds like the internals are getting a much needed update, with the camera is getting a boost too. It’s expected that Samsung’s next phone will have a much larger battery than last year’s flagship, and will feature a much faster processor. US models are likely to get the Snapdragon 820 model, and other markets will receive the Exynos 8890-equipped versions.
The camera on the back is interesting too. Although it’s a lower resolution, it’s expected to feature Samsung’s new BRITECELL technology, which enables much better low light performance and sharper images, but also means Sammy can build a thinner component. This thinner component perhaps explains why the S7 is likely not to have a huge protrusion on the back, surrounding the camera.
While all these leaks leave little to the imagination, none of it is confirmed until Samsung announces it on stage at the event in Barcelona on February 21. We’ll be there covering the event, so stay tuned.
