Latest Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge press render leak shows off classy black, gray and gold together

Having seen a few leaks already over the past few weeks, it’s fair to say there’s little left to the imagination when it comes to what Samsung will announced this coming Sunday. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to take on a design very similar to the S6 family, albeit slightly more curvy and perhaps a little thicker.

In the latest press render leak we see three classy colors alongside each other for the first time. Well-known leaker, Evan Blass has posted official-looking renders which show the Galaxy S7 Edge in gray, black and gold, while the Galaxy S7 is only shown in gold and black.

As much as I know some people really liked the unusual color choices — like the bright blue and emerald green — last year, it’s nice to see Samsung return to more standard, fashionable colors. I really like the look of all three, particularly the stealthy black.

We could perhaps criticize Sammy for following in the footsteps of virtually every other smartphone maker, but there’s a reason these metallic colors are so popular. Black, gray/silver and gold are the in-colors now, and if it sells more phones for Samsung, choosing them is clearly the sensible decision.

No other extra information is given by Evan, perhaps because we already have a fairly detailed picture of what to expect from Samsung at its press event on Sunday evening.

Samsung’s next Galaxy S-series phones are expected to feature 5.2 and 5.5-inch Quad HD resolution displays, perhaps with built-in pressure sensitivity, similar to 3D Touch on the iPhone. Depending on which market you’re in, you’ll likely get either the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processor inside the device, which is likely to host 4GB RAM. On the back, Samsung will likely use its recently-announced BRITECELL technology in a 12MP sensor.

It has been rumored that Samsung will launch the S7 with USB Type-C support, although a couple of leaks seem to indicate it might stick with MicroUSB. Pricing is likely to be the same (or slightly less) than the launch price of the S6 and S6 Edge last year.

We’ll be at the launch event in Barcelona to bring you coverage of the new devices, and will keep you up to date as and when Sammy announces them.
