Casio’s Android Wear Smart Outdoor Watch hits Google Store & other retailers today for $500

Casio is today releasing its Android Wear-based Smart Outdoor Watch through the Google Store and other retailers after first announcing the device during Baselworld earlier this month.

As previously announced, the device is aimed at the active crowd and will sell for $500. The watch features a familiar Casio design with a rugged case that the company says includes 50 meter water resistance (even with a built-in microphone), and a MIL-STD-810G military standard rating, which means the watch should hold up well to impact, vibrations, various altitudes, extreme temperatures, and more. For the water resistance rating, the company says the watch is “suitable for short periods of swimming, but not diving or snorkeling.”

The watch also features a 56.4mm case with both a monochrome LCD and color LCD screen with the latter giving users a moth of battery life in a time only mode and the other display providing the typical Android Wear experience with around a day battery life.

  • 50 Meter Water Resistant
  • Military Standard MIL-STD-810G
  • 1.32-inch dual layer display(Color TFT LCD and Monochrome LCD)
  • Capacitive touch panel
  • Built-in Sensors (directional, atmospheric, accelerometer, and gyrometer)
  • Microphone
  • Vibration
  • Bluetooth: Bluetooth® V4.1 (Low Energy support)
  • Wi-Fi: IEEE802.11b/g/n
  • Memory & storage: 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage

You’ll be able to pick up the device today from the Google Store, Amazon, REI, and Casio’s online store. It appears that the various color options are split between some of the retailers.
