After just a bit of teasing yesterday, Google is now offering some “snap-and-swap” MODE watch bands for a variety of Android Wear devices. While the MODE web pages and Google Store landing pages offering more details have yet to launch (Update: Now they’re live!), the video Google published today suggests that there will be many varieties available on the Google Store, Amazon, and Best Buy…
The way these work seems to be via a custom lug that you affix to your Android Wear watch (Moto 360 and ZenWatch 2 are shown in the video, but they will surely work with other devices). If you watch closely to the first few seconds of the clip below, these bands look to have what is a little switch on the underside that lets you easily attach and detach the bands from the lugs.
Based on the Android Wear MODE website, we know that these bands will work with the ZenWatch (both first and second generation), the Fossil Q, the Huawei Watch, the LG Watch Urbane, the LG G Watch, the G Watch R, the Moto (second generation), and the Samsung Gear Live. Over at the Google Store you’ll find a variety of leather and silicon bands, with the former priced right around $60 and the latter at $50.
In the box you’ll get the band itself, the band removal tool, and the installation pins. Priced just a few pennies higher, you can find the watch bands over at Best Buy and Amazon seems to be offering them at the same price as the Google Store. Keep scrolling for some videos detailing the various bands.
