The Action CAM has an IP67 rating for dust, sand, and water protection. The device can be immersed in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes, while a completely waterproof case will be available later this year.

Additionally, the Action CAM packs a 1,400mAh battery that can record full HD video for up to four hours. Still images can be taken at 12.3MP. For saving videos and images, there’s a microSD card slot with support for up to 2TB of storage. There’s also 2GB of RAM.

“We are committed to expanding the LG Playground ecosystem with both modules and standalone accessories and Action CAM is one of many more that we plan to announce this year,” said Juno Cho, LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company president. “Action CAM is an example of the kind of innovation we will be bringing to market, devices that offer features unavailable in other competing products.”

The Action CAM will be available in South Korea next month with a global launch to follow. LG doesn’t specifically specify countries in which the Action CAM will launch, but it notes that North America and Europe will be included in the global rollout. There’s also no word on pricing.
