YouTube is making live streaming from desktops as simple as visiting its website and clicking “Go live.” This web-based livestream obviates the need for special software or extra setup, while Google also wants to add live streams to default Android camera apps.
Live streaming on YouTube is getting a number of updates this morning aimed at enhancing the experience for viewers. The video site is introducing automatic captioning to live streams, while viewers will be better able to interact with content.
Over the past several months we’ve been seeing Google moving various services away from Google+. The app no longer comes pre-loaded on Android devices, you no longer need a Google+ account for YouTube or Google Play, and now the company is cutting another chunk out of the social network, Hangouts on Air.
LG this evening has announced the Action CAM with LTE and YouTube Live support. LG says that this is the “first” action camera to be available globally with LTE connectivity built-in. With LTE connectivity, users are able to stream directly to sites like YouTube Live without the need for a smartphone.
