Following the news that Tony Fadell was leaving Nest, questions immediately surfaced about his successor Marwan Fawaz. In a letter (obtained by The Verge) sent to all Nest employees, Fawaz stated that the company is “not for sale” and will continue on its current product roadmap. He also reiterates that the company’s plan is to scale up and reach more customers.

Marwan Fawaz was formerly in the telecom industry as CTO of Charter Communications. He was also the CEO of Motorola Home where he pared down the company before it was sold off to Arris for $2.35 billion. Besides the letter, The Verge is reporting that a source close to an Alphabet executive says that Nest is “categorically not for sale”.

The new CEO said that Nest will scale up to reach more customers while continuing to be an innovative force in the connected home space. Fawaz hints at the product road map that Fadell mentioned in an exit interview with Bloomberg last Friday. This upcoming product will apparently be able “reset the narrative about Nest.” The Information previous reported that Nest is working on a much delayed smart home hub, but the new product could also be an outdoor security camera.

Known for scaling up products, only time will tell if Fawaz can lead Nest to profitability and relevance in an increasingly crowded space of connected home appliances.
