Earlier this month Google released Chrome OS version 53 to the stable channel, but it was held back on certain models, specifically, those which have Google Play support. That changed today as Google officially released the latest update for the Acer Chromebook R11 and the ASUS Chromebook Flip, both of which come with full Google Play support for the first time on the stable channel…
This new update doesn’t bring any major with just a handful of changes including the new Material Design-inspired Overview UI, the ability to see available storage through the settings menu, and more.
So far Google has yet to release this update for the Chromebook Pixel 2, but that should be coming very soon. With Android apps finally debuting in the stable channel, this could also lead to Google finally adding a few more devices to the list of supported models (crossing my fingers on the Dell Chromebook 13).
