Facebook finally makes its Events app available for Android

Facebook announced its Events app on October 7th and released the iOS version at the same time. After a two month wait, Facebook has now released Events for Android.

This newest standalone app joins the growing list Facebook’s other independent apps that give you specific access to their suite of services. There are now more than a dozen apps offered by Facebook, including Messenger, Moments, Pages Manager, Ads Manager, Workplace, and Events. You can find all of the Facebook apps in the Play Store here.

Facebook shares the top benefits of using Events as finding things to do with friends, staying up to date with what’s happening around you, and matching your interests to upcoming events all in one place:

All the things you love about events on Facebook are still the same but with this app you can have it all in one place. See the latest events activity, discover new things to do with friends and quickly get to event info. Events works seamlessly with Facebook, so your friends can see what you’re interested in and what you’ve invited them to, even if they don’t have the app.

If you haven’t used Facebook Events (on the web, the Facebook app or the Events app) for more than the basics you may find the new app useful as it brings specific smart suggestions and options:

Catch up on the latest events activity, events your friends have recently responded to and updates from hosts. Find events happening near you on an interactive map and filter based on time and event category. Get event recommendations based on what’s popular with your friends, things you’ve been to in the past and Pages you like. Choose to add calendars from your phone to see all of your plans in one place. Opt-in to get notifications about your upcoming events so you know if details change.
