Arlo has just annoucned a new wired floodlight with video camera that comes with an affordable price tag.
Available starting today, Arlo’s new Wired Floodlight Camera packs a 2K HDR camera that can connect to a floodlight power source and also put out up to 2,000 lumens of light to illuminate your driveway or yard. The camera also has a 160-degree field of view and color night vision.
Like most floodlights, each of the two lights can be adjusted to hit specific areas, but you can also schedule the lights to activate during certain times of day or when certain motion or activity is detected by the camera.
Compared to Google’s Nest Floodlight, you’re getting a decent value here as well. Arlo’s floodlight is roughly half the price of Google’s, coming in at just $149. That’s despite comparable brightness from the lights, a camera with twice the resolution, and color night vision that’s lacking from the $279 Nest option too. Arlo is even one of the few brands that feeds its cameras directly into the Google Home app.
Of course, you’ll need to also factor in the cost of Arlo’s subscription plans. Where Google’s cameras can store a few hours of recordings for free, Arlo can only show live footage for free. Even if you tap a notification, you can’t see the clip even if it’s just a few minutes later. Arlo Secure plans start at $7.99/month for a single camera, or $17.99/month for unlimited cameras (with annual discounts too).
The Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera is available today at Arlo’s website, and also coming to Home Depot in November.
