Matter has been a big deal for the smart home, even if it wasn’t quite as impactful as many were hoping. However, one bright spot has been that Matter made it possible for Eve’s smart home products to work for Android users, and that’s now led to the debut of the first Eve app for Android alongside support for the Eve Thermo.
Eve is a brand that has been developing smart home products for a while now, but the company’s products were only available to users in Apple’s ecosystem. That all changed in early 2023, though, when Eve announced plans to make its products compatible Matter and, in turn, Android, along with the future promise of delivering an Android app.
Nearly two years later, the company is living up to that promise with the launch of “Eve for Matter” on Android.
The app isn’t the same one available on iOS, but rather a new app that’s build specifically around the Eve Thermo, a smart radiator valve that was previously only available to iOS users. The updated version of the product supports Matter, but Matter itself doesn’t support all of the needed features of the product – a problem Eve also ran into with one of its smart plugs.
Unlock the full potential of your Matter-enabled Eve Thermo with the Eve app for Android. Seamlessly link the Eve app to your Google Home setup for local or remote access to get more out of your Eve device.
With the Eve app for Android and Eve Thermo, create and manage autonomous schedules to synchronize your heating with your routine. Use schedules to heat individual rooms or your entire home automatically – independently of your phone, hub, and internet connection.
The Android app also allows the product to directly connect into Google Home using Home APIs.
Eve explains:
Long a fixture on Apple Home, Eve Thermo now also offers Android users the convenience of the free Eve app, which is based on the latest Google programming interfaces. It’s a breeze to add Eve Thermo to Google Home, automate it with on-device schedules, protect it with parental controls and adapt it to the room with an adjustable temperature offset.
For now, the Matter-compatible Eve Thermo is only available in Europe for €79.95, and the Eve for Matter app is available now on the Play Store.
