Galaxy S25 Ultra’s alleged ‘blue’ color makes Pixel’s past pastels look vibrant

Vibrant smartphone colors aren’t nearly as common as many wish, with most devices often coming in blacks and whites, and plenty of bland offerings beyond that. With its upcoming “blue” for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, though, Samsung might be going for a color that’s so subdued, it just has to be a joke.

According to leaker Ice Universe, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra will be offering a “blue” colorway that, well, looks gray. The color is very subtle, with the slightest hint of blue to and otherwise gray color.

Samsung has been known to offer some subtle colors in the past, especially in the pastel-y options sold through Samsung.com. But this goes well beyond that, and beyond other competitors as well.

One brand that immediately comes to mind is Google, with the company’s Pixel phones having infamously experimented with subtle pastels on prior generations, to the point where the company had some fun with the naming. The Pixel 3 had a “Not Pink” colorway with a very limited hint of pink, while Pixel 3a came in “Purple-ish.” More recently, Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 Pro come in “Hazel,” a gray color with a green tint.

But, assuming this slab of color from Ice is reflective of the actual Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung is making many of Google’s past options look vibrant by comparison.

In the header image above, we’ve mocked up what that color might look like, using leaked images of the Galaxy S25 Ultra that were published by dbrand recently.

What do you think about this new color?
