Google is slowly moving its products from Google Assistant to Gemini, with the latest example surfacing in the form of Gemini on Android Auto.
It’s been no big secret that Gemini is coming to Android Auto eventually. A few months ago, code suggested that Google was adding Gemini Live to Android Auto in some capacity, but nothing has appeared to date. But, now, newer versions of the app are bringing Gemini closer to release.
The folks over at Android Authority have managed to manually enable Gemini’s interface on Android Auto, presumably in the v13.5 update that hit the beta track this week. It’s not live yet, but Gemini takes the place of Google Assistant within the UI, with the current Assistant microphone icon being replaced with a blue/purple gradient microphone icon.
Currently, Gemini isn’t at all functional on Auto, but the UI is virtually identical to Assistant.
There’s no word on when this will go live for all, as Google hasn’t announced the expansion just yet.
This comes right as Google has announced that Gemini will be coming to Google TV in 2025, and we also found evidence that Gemini will be coming to Wear OS as well.
