Nothing Phone (3) will be a ‘first step’ toward ‘AI-powered platform’

According to an alleged email from Nothing’s Carl Pei, the upcoming Nothing Phone (3) is all about building towards a new “AI-powered platform.”

2024 went by without a new flagship device from Nothing, with the company instead turning its attention toward its budget-oriented Nothing Phone (2a) series and the four variants that launched over the course of the year. It was previously confirmed that a Nothing Phone (3) would be coming in 2025, and now an alleged email to Nothing staff is offering hints as to what we should expect.

Posted by Evan Blass on Twitter/X, the email goes over “Nothing’s year of innovation” and leads up to a tease for the Nothing Phone (3), describing the device as a “flagship.”

But it’s rather clear that the focus here is on AI, as Pei describes the device as a “first step toward our AI-powered platform” which will “redefine” the user experience. This was previously hinted at, but it’s obvious that this is very much a central piece of the puzzle for this upcoming device.

This year will mark the launch of our flagship Nothing Phone (3). It will introduce breakthrough innovations in user interface, taking our first step toward our Al- powered platform. We’re aiming at redefining the user experience of personal computing devices – creating technology that knows you, makes your life easier, and is present where you are. Technology that enables us to achieve our greatest creative potential.

There’s no word just yet on when in 2025 Nothing will be launching its device, and the question also remains on whether or not any others will be hitting the market this year.
