Report: Samsung delays Android 15 update for Galaxy devices through April

Samsung’s Android 15 update has been a bit of a mess, with countless delays, shrunken beta programs, and still no word from the company on when the full release may come. Now, Samsung is reportedly pushing things back yet again, delaying its Android 15 update for more Galaxy phones through April 2025.

One UI 7, Samsung’s Android 15 update, is a very large update for the company. It brings visual overhauls, new apps, updated features, and more. In our Galaxy S25 Ultra review, we called One UI 7 the best part of Samsung’s latest flagship.

For now, that latest flagship series is also the only way to get your hands on the update.

Samsung launched One UI 7 in beta back in December for the Galaxy S24 series, offering a first look at the company’s take on Android 15. But the beta was never expanded, and Samsung had said stable updates wouldn’t arrive until sometime in 2025. According to Tarun Vats, a frequent Samsung leaker, the stable update may not roll out until after April 2025.

Samsung is apparently planning a total of six beta releases for One UI 7 on the Galaxy S24 series, with Beta 4 to release this month, Beta 5 in March, and Beta 6 in April ahead of a full Android 15 rollout to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Google first released Android 15 in September, and several other Android manufacturers have started (or even completed) their respective Android 15 rollouts in the time since.

The reason for the delay, and the extended beta period, remains unclear as Samsung has released a stable version of One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 series.

At this point they should be skipping 15 all together and working on getting 16 out ASAP.

SamMobile adds that the extended One UI 7 rollout delay may end up killing any efforts for One UI 7.1, with Samsung likely to release “One UI 7.0.1” later this year with its next foldable lineup.

Google is expected to release Android 16 sometime in May or June 2025 on an accelerated release schedule.

What do you think of this latest Android 15 delay for Samsung Galaxy devices?
