The OnePlus Open is picking up its Android 16 update in the US market following other regions.
In a thread on its forums, OnePlus has confirmed the global rollout of OxygenOS 16 – aka Android 16 – for the OnePlus Open. The rollout started on December 11 and follows a stable rollout that started in India last month.
The update consists of adding new AI features, smoother animations, and a number of design updates as we previously covered.
The OnePlus Open, having been released in October 2023, should have at least one more major Android OS update before its EOL. The foldable earned high praise when it launched, but hasn’t seen a sequel released in the two years since. The Oppo Find N5, based on the OnePlus Open’s Find N3 sibling, was similarly lauded as one of the best foldables on the market when it launched earlier this year, but never received a OnePlus adaptation nor a wide global release.
It’s great to see the original Open getting continued updates but… uh… we’re waiting OnePlus.
