Hisense ‘DécoTV’ is an artsy TV that fits anywhere, but should have Google TV instead

Hisense has launched its new “DécoTV” series with the S5, a 32-inch TV that gives off some artsy vibes in a versatile form factor – it’s just running the wrong software.

The Hisense DécoTV series is designed to fit into the same niche as Samsung’s The Frame and Hisense’s own CanvaTV, with an art-first approach to the TV. But this time around, it’s a much smaller form factor.

The 32-inch Hisense DécoTV S5 launched on Amazon earlier this month as a 1080p TV that’s designed to be a bit more versatile. It has a built-in stand that sits easily on a tabletop, while also having some neat cable management in the back. The whole body of the TV is designed with some nice-looking curves and is in a “Morandi white” color.

Hisense is a major Google TV partner, but this one runs Amazon’s Fire TV platform instead.

That feels like a bit of an odd choice, really, as one of Hisense’s main maketing points in the products own listing title is “Stream Live TV Without Cable,” something Google TV is notoriously great at. The hidden ports at least make for a nice way to hide an HDMI device like Walmart’s super-cheap Onn gear, should you wish to do so.

Even with Fire TV, though, the Hisense DécoTV looks like a neat option, especially for its affordable sub-$300 price tag.
