Google has taken the Stadia Controller conversion tool offline, killing the final remnant of the cloud gaming platform.
Launched in 2023 around the time of Stadia’s death, Google opened up a browser-based tool that could convert a Stadia Controller from a now-useless Wi-Fi controller into a generic Bluetooth controller, compatible with smartphones, tablets, PCs, and more.
The tool was originally supposed to shut down at the end of 2023, but was granted two extensions through the end of 2025.
Now, it’s officially dead.
The web tool, which was still active as recently as the past 24 hours, is now returning an “Error 404” when accessed at stadia.google.com/controller. Google’s December 31, 2025 deadline had passed with the tool still being online and active for all, leading many to believe that it would live on permanently. Some say that the page removed that date, but it was always still in place as we’ve been checking it for the past couple of weeks.
Google’s page started to return a 404 error last week for some users, but was still live for others. We were still able to access it as of January 19, but it stopped working as of this morning, January 20.

The good news, though, is that the tool has been backed up for years. The developer of the Stadia Enhanced extension, a great add-on to Stadia while it was still alive, created a full backup of the conversion tool that you can still access through Github, and still works on unconverted controllers.
While that backup is technically a few years old, it should work just fine seeing as Google never released any further firmware updates for converted Stadia Controllers anyway.
RIP Stadia.
