Realme teases new phone with 10,001 mAh battery following questionable Oppo merger

Realme has started showing off the Realme P4 Power, a new smartphone with an absolutely massive 10,001 mAh battery that’s due to launch later this month, and also be the first device coming out of the company following a merge with Oppo.

The Realme P4 Power looks like a pretty straightforward pitch. A standard Android smartphone with a huge battery inside. At 10,001 mAh, this is as big as your average power bank, and double that of many other flagship smartphones. Realme claims the device will last 1.5 days while weighing just 219g – barely more than a Pixel 10 Pro.

The bigger battery, Realme teases, is thanks to “next-gen silicon-carbon anode” battery tech.

The most impressive aspect here might be design, as the phone doesn’t even look thick despite the battery size. The standard Realme P4 has a 7,000 mAh battery and measures in at 7.6mm. The Power variant is surely larger, but it doesn’t look much bigger.

Realme won’t announce the full specs of this device until it launches on January 29, but it looks absolutely fascinating.

That said, it comes at a pretty weird time.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Realme is moving to be a sub-brand of Oppo, similar to what OnePlus did a few years ago. The public communications from Realme and Oppo (via Reuters) position this as a way to “pool resources and cut costs for the two companies,” though there have been some rumblings of major layoffs leading up to the announcement. Some have expressed concerns around if this will lead to Realme’s own Android skin and other brand identities going away in favor of Oppo’s, much like we’ve seen with OnePlus in recent years, and it’s hard to dispel those concerns.

What the future holds for Realme – and OnePlus, for that matter – is certainly up in the air right now, as Oppo is one of the brands expected to feel a tight squeeze from the memory shortages and rising costs in the 2026 smartphone market. It certainly makes sense for Oppo (and its parent company, BBK Electronics) to consolidate its efforts given the current state of the market and what’s clearly around the corner.

But it’s far too early to say anything for certain – even if you slap an “exclusive” tag on it.
