While Samsung’s drawn in plenty of foldable attention lately for its TriFold and whatever it ends up calling its heavily-rumored “wide” device, it’s not the only manufacturer looking to up its folding phone game. Oppo’s ready to unveil its Find N6 in China in the coming weeks, and our first teaser points to a pretty big — if expected — display upgrade.
Oppo’s first teaser for the Find N6 keeps things relatively simple, showcasing the device’s main interior display via its bezel along with, for whatever reason, a horse running across it. As reported by GSMArena, the tagline — “Smooth Sailing” in Chinese — and the lack of any lines in the actual display seem to point towards a crease-less display, the next major milestone being chased by foldable manufacturers now that the thinness wars are all but over. It’s unclear how exactly this panel will look in person, but any kind of crease improvements are bound to wow over consumers compared to any folding phone that came before.

Oppo’s move comes as the foldable market is really heating up. We know Samsung is attempting to recreate that same crease-less design, even showing off a panel from its Display arm at CES before that unit was quietly pulled from its public showcase. The rest of the rumors surrounding the Find N6, however, all sound pretty familiar to what’s came before. Rather than chasing a wider panel — as Samsung and Honor are rumored to be doing, in response to Apple-centric rumors about its folding iPhone — Oppo is apparently sticking with a 6.62-inch outer panel and an 8.12-inch interior screen. That’s not too different from both of its predecessors, though a larger battery is apparently also on the way.
Expect plenty of additional teases and leaks ahead of the Find N6’s debut, but if you’re in the US, don’t expect to see this hardware any time soon. Just as with last year’s Find N5, it sounds like a OnePlus-branded take on this hardware simply isn’t in the cards.
