Gemini for Google TV rolling out more prominent tab, richer visual responses, & sports briefs

Following the announcement at CES in January, Gemini for Google TV is picking up a number of visual updates.

At the moment, the Gemini icon appears in a top pill alongside Screensaver and Quick Settings. Google is now moving “Gemini” to the top-left corner alongside Home, Live, and Apps.

Gemini for Google TV responses will now include a “mix of visuals, videos, and text.” For example, this “richer visual help” might show a live scorecard and where to watch when you ask about sports, while recipe requests will be accompanied by video tutorials.

Similarly, Gemini responses are becoming more interactive with “deep dives” when you want to learn about a topic. The idea is to “turn passive viewing into meaningful screen time, enabling you to interact with the subjects that fascinate you most.”

These “narrated visual breakdowns” for educational topics can cover “health & wellness, economics, technology, and more.” Access them by tapping “Dive deeper” in responses or going to the Gemini tab for “Learn.”

From deconstructing the physiological impacts of cold plunging to illustrating how matcha is created from scratch, Gemini delivers a custom, interactive walkthrough with guided follow-up questions for you and your family to check out on the big screen together.

Finally, Google is improving sports briefs for “fans who live for the highlights, but can’t always catch the live action.” An expansion of news briefs, you will get “timely, narrated overviews of your favorite in-season leagues,” like quick game summaries and player news.

This covers “NBA, NCAA basketball, NHL, MLB, MLS, and NWSL.” You can find sports briefs in the Gemini tab.

Richer visual responses are rolling out to Gemini for Google TV in the US and Canada starting today.

You can also start exploring deep dives and sports briefs on Gemini-enabled devices in the U.S., with broader device support arriving this spring.

Meanwhile, the Gemini for Google TV voice assistant is coming to Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain this spring, with more countries throughout the year.
