After a previous partnership announcement, Google has revealed new details on its Google Photos app for Samsung TVs, which is available on the latest models.
When Samsung and Google first announced that Google Photos would be coming to Samsung TVs, it was never quite clear if it was an integration or an app. As of today, we’ve finally got an answer – it’s both, sort of.
Google says that Photos on Samsung TVs will be available as a part of the “Daily Board” widget, as well as on the “Daily+ row” and as an app on the “Daily+ app launcher.” The app will show your “memories” in full screen, while the other two integrations will show photo selections in parts of Samsung’s UI.
Google explains:
We’re thrilled to announce our new Google Photos integration with Samsung TV, which makes it easier to bring your memories to the biggest screen in your home! If you own an eligible 2026 Samsung TV, you can now find your cherished moments featured on your TV through the Daily+ row, Daily+ app launcher, and Daily Board widget.
This integration is specifically designed to take full advantage of the unique capabilities and size the TV offers for a compelling, immersive experience.
After you sign in to Google Photos on your television, you can find your photos with:
- Daily+ row: You can scroll through a selection of your memories that refresh automatically.
- Daily+ app launcher: When you click on the Google Photos app, you can find full-screen versions of your memories.
- Daily Board widget: You can also find memories on the widget.
On a further support page, Google clarifies that the Photos experience on Samsung TVs requires sign-in via a QR code that pops up and that the app allows users to “Manage memories” to include or exclude certain people, pets, or dates – functionality that has existed for some time. Changes will apply to all of your devices.
Based on Google’s description, this Photos app for Samsung TVs cannot just scroll through your library. Like Google TV, it’s just for highlighting photos, in this case pulling from “Memories” that have become an increased point of emphasis for Google Photos. While Google TV lacks a proper app, it has more functionality that Samsung’s integration seeing as you can search for specific photos through Gemini.
Google Photos is available on select 2026 Samsung TVs, which are on sale now.
