Following a US debut late last year, Google is now rolling out Gemini for Home to over a dozen new countries globally as it details some of the latest improvements to its replacement for Google Assistant.
To say that Google Assistant is falling apart can be a bit of an understatement, with Gemini for Home being Google’s promised overhaul to the experience. The experience debuted in early access in the US last year before expanding to Canada and, more recently, Mexico.
Now, Google is opening the floodgates.
In a post this week, Google says that Gemini for Home, still in early access, is now rolling out to users in 16 new countries and with 7 new languages also supported. The list of additions includes:
New Countries
- Austria
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Ireland
- Italy
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- Japan
- New Zealand
Gemini for Home Languages
- Danish
- Dutch
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Norwegian
- Spanish
- Swedish
It’s a massive expansion, though as mentioned, it’s still only an early access program. Users will only get the revamped voice assistant on their smart speakers and displays if they opt in manually through the Google Home app.
This comes as Google has recently been making considerable improvements to Gemini for Home over the past several weeks. The company has been detailing massive changelogs over the course of February and March 2026 especially, with a focus on Gemini for Home response times, context awareness, and more natural interactions. Beyond that, new features have also been added, such as giving Gemini the ability to answer questions using Nest Cam footage in real time.
Google rounds up the latest improvements as follows:
- Improved Speed: We’ve cut smart home latency by up to 40% for common commands like “turn on the lights,” making your home feel more responsive.
- Context-Aware Intelligence: We’ve overhauled how Gemini identifies your devices. It is now much better at distinguishing between a “lamp” and a “light,” and it uses your home address to provide highly accurate local weather and news.
- Precision Control: Gemini now understands “Expressive Lighting” (ask for “the color of the ocean”) and offers granular control for appliances, such as setting specific humidity levels or preheating smart ovens.
- Natural Interactions: We’ve reduced response verbosity for tasks like setting timers and alarms, ensuring interactions are snappier and less intrusive. We’ve also introduced “world-aware” alarms—try asking, “Set an alarm for the start of the <my team name> match.”
- A Family Experience: Gemini for Home is now ready for the whole family, with new support for kids on supervised Google Accounts so they can learn and play safely.
- New Innovations like Live Camera Search: Users with Google Home Premium can now search their camera streams in real-time to understand the current state of their home.
Gemini for Home’s global rollout starts today and expands to everyone “over a week,” Google Home chief Anish Kattukaran says.
