Google teases Fitbit Air launch on Thursday, May 7

Google started teasing the Fitbit Air at the end of March, and the screen-less wearable looks to be launching tomorrow.

Fitbit on Instagram — which has removed all images from the account and tells users to go to @madebygoogle — posted a teaser yesterday morning.

The caption is “Buckle up. 5.7.26.” and we see just that in a three-image spread. There’s a shiny metal buckle and light blue strap that’s reminiscent of the Pixel Watch Woven Band.

We reported on the “Fitbit Air” brand name last month along with the “Google Health” app and “Premium” subscription. It looks like “Fitbit” will still be used for hardware, but “Google Health” is for all software going forward. There’s a new heart-shaped icon in the Google colors with a gradient effect.

The timing of the Fitbit Air launch is interesting. It comes less than two weeks before Google I/O, with the company wanting to give the device its own news cycle outside of the developer conference.
