Google and Samsung’s Android XR glasses will have multiple ‘disruptive’ and ‘timeless’ styles

On-stage at Google I/O 2026, we’re getting a preview of the first Android XR glasses built as a collaboration between Google and Samsung and confirmation of multiple style offerings

With a name and other key details forthcoming, Google and Samsung are previewing the first products from their joint efforts around smart glasses running atop the Android XR platform. These new glasses are built in collaboration with Gentle Monster for “disruptive yet refined aesthetics” and Warby Parker for “refined and timeless designs.”

As Samsung explains in a press release, these glasses are designed to be a companion to your smartphone and as a means to “access help through voice interaction.” This includes navigation assistance, placing orders at restaurants, and summarized notifications for “important texts,” as well as calendar additions and real-time translation – all powered by Gemini, of course.

Built to understand the world alongside users in real time, the new intelligent eyewear provides everyday support while keeping users hands-free and heads-up. Users can access navigation assistance by simply asking Gemini with their voices, receive personalized suggestions such as a nearby coffee shop on their walking route, or even place an order for pickup. Users can also receive summarized notifications for important texts and add events to their calendars. Additional features include real-time translations with audio that matches to the speaker’s voice, as well as the ability to translate text on menus or signs in the user’s line of sight. Working seamlessly within the Galaxy ecosystem, the device helps users easily manage everyday tasks or effortlessly capture photos, all without taking their phone out.

Today’s first preview doesn’t include any details around pricing – and whether or not these actually have a display – but confirms that multiple styles will be available. Two styles were shown off today, with the “first collections” coming later this year. A previous leak had shown an additional style not seen in today’s teaser.

Samsung teases a “Fall” 2026 timeline for the release of its first Android XR glasses with “additional details” in the “coming months.” That means we’ll probably hear more about these during the Fold 8 launch in July, as expected, but without a release alongside the new foldables.
