A new report claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 delivers a “significant” improvement to the display crease, on par with the current industry leader, Oppo Find N6.
The display crease has been a point of contention on foldables since the beginning, and it’s also proven to be a very difficult thing to get rid of. Finally, though, we’re seeing wider progress on this, especially looking at Oppo’s latest Find N6 which makes the crease also completely invisible to the eye and “zero-feel” to the touch, as Oppo puts it.
Samsung, though, has still been chipping away at this generation by generation. But while the Fold 7 was a major leap in terms of making the foldable thinner, it didn’t address the crease.
Apparently, that’s what we can expect from Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Ice Universe says that the latest iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 “significantly” improve the display crease. The Fold 8 “series” is specifically mentioned here, implying this improvement will apply to both the narrower form factor we’re used to – supposedly now called the “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra” – as well as the new wider design. Ice specifically calls out that the crease is “just as impressive as the Oppo Find N6.”
If that lives up to the hype, it’s a welcome change, and something to get excited about with Samsung’s new foldable.
Samsung is expected to launch its new foldables series on July 22.
