A new leak reveals Microsoft’s next-gen Surface Pro that’s powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite and due to be released very soon.
It’s been around two years since Microsoft launched its first Snapdragon X-powered Surface products. The Surface Laptop and Surface Pro with Snapdragon under the hood served as flagships for a new era of Windows on Arm, and were fairly well received at that.
Now, we’re due for a sequel.
WinFuture has published an assortment of marketing images of the next Microsoft Surface Pro with Snapdragon X2 Elite. The tablet form factor looks nearly identical to the last generation, save for the removal of a blue colorway.
The 13-inch model is shown here with a mention of marginally better battery life – 15.5 hours of video playback – and the same OLED display, kickstand, and the same “Flex” keyboard that works both while docked and wirelessly.
The main change here is just Snapdragon X2 Elite, which is considerably more powerful compared to the first generation that debuted in 2024. Microsoft shows the use of a 12-core chip and the report brings out support for up to 32GB of RAM and a user-replaceable SSD that supports up to 1TB of storage.
Finally, there’s a potential release date for this new Microsoft Surface Pro. June 16. That’s just about two weeks from now, and certainly something to look forward to.
Meanwhile, Microsoft just teased its new Surface Laptop Ultra which is powered by another Arm-based chip, the Nvidia RTX Spark. Microsoft is also building a dev box powered by that chip under the Surface brand.
