Pixel Phone app rolling out custom Take a Message greetings

After introducing in the beta channel, the Phone by Google app is now letting stable users record custom Take a Message greetings.

This replaces the generic response that callers hear when your Pixel answers a call for you.

Once live, you’ll be prompted at the top of the Home tab to add “A personal touch on your missed calls.” You can also access custom greetings by going to Settings > Take a Message.

This opens the new “Greetings” screen with “Standard greeting” always available: “The person you have called is not available. Please leave a message after the tone.”

Tap the microphone below to save as many as needed, while recordings can be up to a minute long. Your active greeting is marked by a star, with “Set as default” found in the three-dot overflow menu.

Beta users of the Pixel Phone app have had this feature since April, and we’re now seeing it roll out to stable users with version 223.

Take a Message is available on the Pixel 6 and newer in Australia, Canada, Ireland, the UK, and the US.
