Google Keep on Android is getting some tweaks to the FAB (floating action button) ahead of its new AI voice feature coming this summer.
Keep for Android goes from a regular-sized FAB to the larger variant. Tapping or long-pressing, depending on your “Create text notes by default” setting, also reveals some changes, starting with a new open/close animation.
Old vs. new

The FAB menu is now slightly higher on the screen. “Image” is now the first shortcut at the top, followed by “Drawing” — which gets a new icon — and then “Audio.”
The large FAB is widely rolling out today with version 5.26.222.00.90 of Google Keep for Android. Force stop Keep from App info if you’re not seeing it yet.

This change comes ahead of Google Keep adding a new voice feature that lets you create notes just by talking. Gemini is leveraged to turn your “brain dump” into organized notes and lists, with Keep able to create multiple from one voice session.
From what Google demoed for us last month, the feature will be accessed from a regular-sized FAB just above the ‘plus’ button. It matches Google Drive, which has a large FAB and a regular one just above to access the document scanner.
This new Google Keep feature will be available this summer for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers alongside Gmail Live and Docs Live.
