OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra, ‘the world’s most intelligent and aligned model’ that you can’t use just yet

Following an outage earlier today, OpenAI is launching GPT-6 Astra, it’s latest model which is “the world’s most intelligent.”

OpenAI calls GPT-6 Astra a “generational leap” in capability, with faster and more reliable computer use to handle more advanced workflows and offer better output in documents, presentations, and more. OpenAI says that “you can delegate tasks with greater confidence in Astra’s judgment.”

The company explains:

GPT‑6 Astra brings together years of research and big bets across pre-training, reinforcement learning, and alignment. Astra is state-of-the-art on computer use, browsing, software engineering, cybersecurity, science, and professional work. Astra saturates FrontierMath Tier 4 with a 98% score, having already helped solve long-standing open problems⁠ in mathematics. Astra also saturates ARC-AGI-3 with a 99.9% score and ExploitBench with a 100% score. It also sets a new frontier on computer and browser use, handling the most demanding professional work with unmatched speed, accuracy, and judgment. 

GPT-6 Astra outdoes Claude Opus 5 and Fable 5 when it comes to computer use – and at a lower cost – while also being able to better understand what it is looking at. In one example, OpenAI shows Astra using Google Maps to find a pediatrician, visit their website, and fill out a user’s contact details along with a message to the provider about establishing care.

The breakdown of everything else GPT-6 Astra is improved at includes coding, cybersecurity, and even scientific discovery, the last one helping with “the practical work behind scientific discovery.”

GPT-6 is available starting today with “a limited set of organizations” with general availability for “all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users” landing in the “coming days.”
