One of the biggest headaches facing Google’s push to make Android more of a desktop platform is the professional sector of apps and programs, but one big name is making the effort, as Blender is working to bring its app to Android.
Blender is an industry-recognized suite of tools used for 3D modeling. It’s effectively the go-to option, and for good reason.
Shown off at the Blender Conference 2026, Blender is making the effort to bring its app to Android. The hour-long video goes over the details of how the app works and the roadmap for releasing the port, which is targeting a release in the first half of 2027. An APK demo is already available. The port appears to be mainly focused on tablets, which is a bigger undertaking than you might think. Blender relies quite heavily on keyboard shortcuts, so bringing a fully functional experience on a touchscreen is a massive change. It appears that a stylus is a big part of the experience.
This comes at an important time, not only as Android tablets continue to advance, but also as Googlebook makes its debut. The Android-based platform opens up a new desktop-class platform for Blender.
Notably, iPad support for Blender is still “on hold” for the time being, despite the work for touchscreen support being brought to the Android app.
