Galaxy S27 series pricing may not only increase, but cost more to upgrade storage

Samsung’s new Galaxy S27 series is rumored to come at a higher price than previous versions, but that’s no surprise. What’s a little harder to swallow is the larger rumored gap between storage variants, according to one leaker.

In succession to the Galaxy S26 lineup, the Galaxy S27 series is expected to take on plenty of physical changes. Namely, in design. Previous leaks have provided CAD renders of the new camera island and overall look, but those have also been caveated with a promised price increase.

Following rumors that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could start at $1,400, a new bit of information has surfaced from a leaker on Naver. According to Lanzuk, the Galaxy S27 series, as a whole, is expected to come at a higher price. The estimated jump is reportedly in the “high 130,000 won range” (~$100). But the post also suggests Samsung is setting a “steeper rate of increase” to the prices of each capacity, likely referring to storage variants.

That could suggest that, instead of a $200 gap between some storage variants, the disparity could expand. Then again, the post isn’t clear on whether this is a linear price increase or one that also increases upgrade costs over previous generations.

The posted leak is courtesy of domestic Korean sources, indicating this price increase is specific to Samsung’s home soil. That doesn’t mean it won’t translate to other regions, like the US or Europe.

We’re a bit wary of a report like this. Not because a price increase is unlikely for the Galaxy S27 series – statistically, it very much is – but because of clashing numbers. The previously noted leak also suggested the Galaxy S27 series would remain unchanged as a whole, apart from the most premium flagship model. This leak contradicts that, noting every device will see a jump.

It’s very possible that Samsung is flipping between the two until it ultimately decides on exactly how much it needs to increase the cost of each device and variant to make a profit off of devices stuffed with NAND and LPDDR6 RAM, which the post also notes will be included on “some models.”

Until the Galaxy S27 series launches early next year, there will likely be little confirmation on Samsung’s finalized price increases.
