Gemini AI Plus subscribers will lose access to Pro models next month

Google has begun emailing Gemini AI Plus members to inform them when their Gemini subscription will no longer include access to the advanced models – just Flash.

A change in Gemini’s subscription model was announced earlier this month. It came right before Google’s new Argon model went live and became the new high-performance offer in Gemini. The company made it clear that Gemini 4 Argon would be included for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, but it also said AI Plus members would lose access to AI Pro entirely.

According to one user on Reddit, Google has begun emailing AI Plus subscribers to let them know Gemini Pro models would be excluded from the AI Plus tier starting on November 13. The email lists Flash-Lite and Flash as the only two options after that date.

We wanted to let you know about changes to the models that you can access with your Google AI Plus plan.

Starting on 13 November 2026, the ability to select Pro models in both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search will only be available to Google AI Pro subscribers and above. You’ll still have access to our latest Flash-Lite model and Flash, built for speed and intelligence. Your previous chats using the Pro model can be continued with a different model.

To learn more about these changes, you can visit our Help Centre article for additional details. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time.

Thank you for being a Google AI Plus subscriber.

A couple of others report getting the same email, which puts a pin on exactly when the Gemini AI Plus plan changes.

The $4.99/month option will give users access to just two models, while the $19.99/month tier gains access to Argon, leaving a bigger gap between the two. Google is still keeping the free plan around, which leaves everyone with access to Flash-lite.

Of course, these subscriptions tie into Google Workspace for cloud storage and other perks, like YouTube Premium. Still, the $4.99/month plan seemed like a good deal for those who wanted access to more capable models for more than just passive chats.
