March security patch for Nexus devices and Pixel C rolling out, factory images now available

Google has posted the new factory images featuring the March security patch for Nexus devices. The images are still based on Android 6.0.1, so it’s highly likely to just be security fixes. Like last month, there’s also a new factory image for the Pixel C.

The March security bulletin lists fixes for 16 security bugs found by the Android and Chrome security teams and other independent researchers. The bugs range from moderate to critical in severity. The most severe vulnerability deals with remote code execution through email, browsing, or MMS, though Google notes that there are no reports of customers affected by these issues.

It usually takes about a week for the update to start rolling out. Those who don’t want to wait for the OTA can download the factory images below:

If you need help flashing factory images, check out our guide here. Keep in mind that flashing your device will wipe any data on it. For most users, this is not worth the hassle and waiting for the OTA is the wiser option. Last month, HTC, Samsung, and new addition Motorola rolled out security patches for their newer devices.
