Google’s most expensive smartphone isn’t devoid of accessories, but getting high-quality options for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold isn’t as easy as other phones. Here are some of our favorite options to pair with the phone-tablet hybrid.
Rightly or wrongly, after you have spent the better part of $2,000 on your Pixel Fold, you won’t have a ton of decent accessories to choose from. It’s not clear why, but even some of the biggest case and accessory makers aren’t all-in on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold this year. The pool of things you can buy to enhance or protect your prized possession is smaller, but filled with crud. We’ve waded through to determine just a few of the things that might enhance your experience.
3-in-1 charge dock
One of the most annoying design changes with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is that due to the altered wireless charging coil placement, it won’t work with the Pixel Stand. For that reason, we have been crying for a high-quality 3-in-1 charging dock for the Pro Fold that will also charge your earbuds, watch, and phone. One of the only options I have tried that works is from a brand called MAKAQI. It isn’t perfect either, as it doesn’t support the Pixel Watch 2 or 3.
However, it’s the only charger I have tested that lets you charge with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold open or even two phones side-by-side. If you have the OG Pixel Watch, the flip-out magnetic charger arm is great. Luckily, it folds away, so you don’t need to use it. For what it’s worth, I’ve resorted to using the Spigen S355 charger dock as my main Pixel Watch 3 charging stand.
Another bonus with this particular charging dock is its foldable design. It folds flat, allowing you to slip it into a bag or a drawer if you don’t need it immediately. When upright, it’s the perfect plinth to have your Pixel 9 Pro Fold open and take on power.
Creesee clear case with MagSafe
Due to the design of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, there aren’t many decent full-coverage cases or accessories available. It doesn’t help that many screen protectors have issues when you put a case or frame on your phone.
My personal favorite case is from Mous. The Super Thin lineup for the entire Pixel 9 series is exceptional and my go-to this year. That said, there are better full-coverage cases for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold this time – and at much lower prices.
A brand called Creesee makes one such option. This clear case is great. It packs in MagSafe, so you can attach more accessories and extras. It’s fully transparent so you can see the design of your phone and ensure nothing is getting trapped in the folding mechanism. Plus it has an integrated screen protector on the front cover that won’t lift in the corners like some of the other alternative options. For just $15, it’s a steal.
Jsaux phone stand
There aren’t many Pixel 9 Pro Fold cases that have a kickstand built in that I could recommend, so I found a small, durable kickstand that folds up and you can carry in your pocket. Jsaux is known for making high-quality accessories for lots of devices like the Steam Deck, but the foldable deck chair for your phone is great because it’s dense, has rubber feet and a plinth for your Pixel Fold.
Unlike lots of other kickstands, which have only one height or angle you can place, the Jsaux phone stand can be placed at a few angles, almost to 180 degrees, and it doesn’t budge unless you manually adjust it. Your phone just stays in place and won’t slip off. It’s made from an aluminum alloy, so it can take a beating, and the 105g weight means it won’t wobble or weaken over time. It’s great for watching movies or like a mini laptop with virtual keyboard at the bottom and a screen angled.
It also has enough room for a small USB-C charging cable without affecting usability. Sadly, not all will fit without causing your phone to lift off the little plinth. Even so, if you stick it in your bag, you have a useful everyday kickstand.
Wireless keyboard
I love the idea of using the Pixel 9 Pro Fold as a mini workstation on the go. So, in tandem with the kickstand, I have been pairing it with an older folding wireless keyboard with an integrated touchpad. My Mous tri-fold wireless keyboard is a little long in the tooth, but it works a dream as I can use all of the keyboard shortcuts and mouse cursor, and it takes up barely any room in my backpack or side bag.
You might not want to do any “real work” on your Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but even just typing out documents or using the bigger desktop-like Chrome browser fully evolves how you use the inner display. Because my unit is discontinued and uses micro-USB, you get updated models with USB-C charging that offer the exact same integrated experience.
PSA: Screen protectors
There are a few things to note about screen protectors and how well these work with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. If you do not plan on using a case with your foldable, then you can grab a reputable option from just about any case maker. A cheap 3-pack will run you about $15 but note that the quality might not be up to your standards.
Many screen protectors have issues with the outer display once you put a case on. This is most visible at the bottom left of the display. The inner section of the case can lift the screen protector, requiring you to reapply or press down to get it seated correctly. TPU screen protectors are less prone to this issue.
