After months in beta, Samsung has officially announced the rollout of One UI 6 Watch with Wear OS 5 to its entire Galaxy Watch lineup.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series has gone without any notable updates for several months now as the company has been building out its latest major update. The One UI 6 Watch update delivers new features and more for Galaxy Watch, as well as being based on the latest Wear OS 5 update under the hood.
One UI 6 Watch shipped out of the box on Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra.
Now, the update is expanding to the rest of the lineup. Samsung has officially announced the rollout of Wear OS 5 to select Galaxy Watch models. Specifically, all Wear OS-based smartwatches will be updated, as Samsung has ended software support for its older Tizen-based smartwatches. One UI 6 Watch with Wear OS 5 will be available to:
- Galaxy Watch 4
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch 5
- Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch 6
- Galaxy Watch 6 Classic
- Galaxy Watch FE
The update brings several new features including Energy Score, an overall health metric based on your sleep, activity, and other data. Sleep tracking has also improved, and a new Sleep Apnea feature can help detect signs of the condition while you sleep.
Samsung has also added a few new first-party watch faces, “Suggested replies” that are generated with AI, and new double-pinch gestures that can be customized to certain actions.
Wear OS 5 is rolling out first to Galaxy Watch 6 and will expand to other models over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Samsung currently has major trade-in deals available for some of these older smartwatches when you move to a newer generation.
More on Wear OS:
- Galaxy Watch 7 is up to 50% off for anyone with an older Wear OS watch
- Facer is working with Google to bring its watch faces to Wear OS 5
- New Wear OS watches will get health upgrades from the company that almost got the Apple Watch banned
