The latest wireless Android Auto adapter, AAWireless TWO, is finally easy to purchase over two months after it first launched, while the original version is officially no longer available.
The first AAWireless adapter launched in 2021, bringing support for wireless Android Auto to anyone with a vehicle that supported a wired version. The product was one of the best on the market, but was met with plenty of competition in the form of Motorola MA1 and many cheaper alternatives.
After questions arose regarding the future of the first AAWireless, it’s now been confirmed that the adapter is no longer available, as was mentioned by one of the company’s founders on Reddit. Production on the original has ended, and it seems stock has also gone away at this point, as the adapter has been out of stock on Amazon for a while now, and was removed entirely from the AAWireless website. We first reported on the device going out of stock in November, but it resurfaced a few times in the weeks since.

I recently got one of those Android AI boxes for the car. My car seems to have a very buggy implementation of the Android Auto protocol. It would always disconnect or not connect at all. Sometimes rebooting/rebooting the AA wireless adapter worked. Sometimes if I turned off Bluetooth in the car and turned it back on that worked. And sometimes nothing worked. Tried multiple cables, multiple Android auto adapters, multiple phones, And these all worked in my Acura. The problem seem to be isolated to the Honda Accord I am currently driving. The funny part is that iPhones seem to work just fine. I only conclusion was that I needed a carplay based solution but I am just not an iPhone person.
The Android AI boxes use the carplay protocol to talk to the car but they still give you Android auto support. It's almost like a proxy that converts Android Auto to CarPlay for an Android phone.
As a bonus, It's also a full Android computer so if you forget your phone you can still use the AI box with maps and Spotify and a SIM card. You can also install apps on it that will not work on Android Auto. A lot of people tout using it for Netflix and YouTube. That's an interesting parlor trick but I can do that on my phone, And it's dangerous as hell.
The only drawback is the price. I got one of the carlinkit models for about $140, but some of these go up to $200 and $300 in cost. If my car worked well with AAwireless I would have stuck with it. It worked very reliably with my previous car.
This comes as stock for AAWireless TWO has finally stabilized over on Amazon.
While the adapter isn’t readily available for Prime shipping yet, we’ve been tracking stock for a few weeks now and it’s been consistently available for purchase with 7-10 day shipping. We’d expect Prime to become available sometime in the next month or two as stock is further built up. Even if not, the current state of availability far surpasses the product’s first month or two on the market, where customers had to act fast to actually place an order.
Sometime in the first few months of 2025, AAWireless TWO+ will also be launching with support for CarPlay, the one feature that the original adapter supports, but the currently-available sequel does not.
