OnePlus 13 launches globally from $899, and it’s kicking off 2025 on a high note

OnePlus is starting off 2025’s collection of new Android phones on a high note, as the device is delivering a top-notch experience at a fair price with its global debut. Here’s what you need to know.

OnePlus 13 pricing and specs

The OnePlus 13 has already been available in China for almost two months, so let’s just quickly take a look at the specs which remain unchanged for the global market. Snapdragon 8 Elite runs the show under the hood, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There’s a 6,000 mAh battery with 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging – there’s still a charger in the US and Canada, both all other regions won’t include one.

The display is a 6.82-inch AMOLED LPTO 4.1 panel at 120Hz which uses a “Ceramic Guard” in place of Gorilla Glass. OnePlus says this delivers “superior drop protection and scratch resistance.” The cover glass is now mostly flat, with only a 2.5D edge around all four sides to improve damage resistance. The OnePlus 13 is also IP69 rated, meaning not only does it bring the perks of IP68, but can handle higher temperatures or stronger jets of water.

Out of the box, the OnePlus 13 also runs on top of Android 15 with OxygenOS 15. OnePlus will provide four years of major Android updates as well as six years of security updates (still at a bi-monthly schedule).

As far as the cameras go, OnePlus is once again sourcing Sony’s new Lytia tech, with a 50MP LYT-808 primary camera, 50MP LYT-600 for the 3x optical telephoto camera, and finally a Samsung S5KJN5 for the 50MP ultrawide shooter. A 32MP Sony IMX615 is used for selfies.

There’s no Qi2 in the OnePlus 13, unfortunately, but OnePlus is selling a range of cases that include magnetic attachments that are compatible with Qi2 and MagSafe, as well as OnePlus’ new AIRVOOC magnetic charger.

In the US, OnePlus 13 will start at $899 (USD), a $100 increase from the OnePlus 12. Full pricing in the US and Canada for OnePlus 13 and its accessories follow:

  • OnePlus 13 in “Black Eclipse” 12GB/256GB – $899.99 USD / $1,249.99 CAD
  • OnePlus 13 in “Black Eclipse,” “Arctic White,” and “Midnight Ocean” 16GB/512GB – $999.99 USD / $1,399.99 CAD
  • OnePlus 13 Wood Grain or Aramid Fiber magnetic case – $39.99 USD / $54.99 CAD
  • OnePlus 13 Sandstone magnetic case – $24.99 USD / $34.99 CAD
  • OnePlus 13 AIRVOOC 50W magnetic wireless charger – $79.99 USD / $109.99 CAD

OnePlus 13 is available for purchase starting today. At OnePlus.com, users are eligible for up to $899 USD ($1,249 CAD) trade-in for select devices, and a minimum $100 trade-in value for any smartphone in any condition. Orders placed before February 7 will also get a free memory upgrade from 12/256GB to 16/512GB, effectively giving a $100 discount. That same offer is also available at Best Buy (where the OnePlus 13 will only be sold in black) and the retailer is also throwing in a $100 gift card with purchase.

Hands-on: The OnePlus 13 is setting a high bar for 2025

Ahead of today’s announcement, I’ve had the pleasure of testing out the OnePlus 13 for the past few weeks.

A full review is coming very soon – drop a comment if there’s anything in particular you want to see – but the short version is that I think OnePlus is setting a very high bar for every other Android phone coming in 2025, and in a way that it hasn’t in the past.

OnePlus smartphones have a messy history of always having some asterisk, whether that’s the camera, the price, some wacky compatibility quirk, or a lame excuse about wireless charging. But, the OnePlus 13 just doesn’t.

There are two areas that specifically stood out to me over the past few weeks.

Firstly, the hardware. Gone is the evil that is a curved display. The edges of the glass are still curved, but the display isn’t, meaning the device is more comfortable to use, less prone to random touches or reflections, and it should be a breeze to find a cheap and good-fitting screen protector for this device. In terms of overall usability, it’s the biggest upgrade here. I’ve also come to be a big fan of the “Midnight Ocean” variant with its “vegan” leather backing. It’s soft and grippy, and seems to be getting better over time – more on this in our coming review.

Then, there’s the camera, which is stunning. The OnePlus Open and OnePlus 12 were already big steps in the right direction for OnePlus in the camera department, and the OnePlus 13 feels like the culmination of that effort. The camera here is sharp, makes firm decisions in processing that often deliver a delightfully contrast-y look, and is pretty darn consistent as well. It’s a stunning shooter overall, and really gives the Pixel in my other pocket a run for its money.

Some samples:

OxygenOS 15 has also improved a lot of the quirks I disliked in the past, while the battery life is also noticeably improved. Snapdragon 8 Elite is also off to a good start in my book.

But, for more, stay tuned for our full review, and let us know in the comments below what else you’d like to know about the device.
