ChromeOS 132 started rolling out last week, and Google has just now posted the changelog.
On Chromebook Plus, ChromeOS 132 “features rounded corners on all app windows.” This is officially “part of a new UI design.” You can see the difference below:
If your Chromebook happens to have a fingerprint sensor, biometric authentication can be used in Password Manager and Chrome Autofill.
Similarly, there’s ChromeOS passwordless authentication in version 132: “The passwordless ChromeOS feature allows users to access their device with PIN or a local password as their primary authentication factor. This means that you will be able to log in to your ChromeOS device with a password you set explicitly for your device, as well as with a PIN no longer tying your gmail password with your device password.”
From Settings > Accessibility > Cursor and Touchpad, you can now disable a Chromebook’s touchpad for those that “rely on screen readers or may experience accidental clicks.”
Face Control is officially rolling out to control your device with face and gesture tracking.
ChromeOS 132 updates the onboarding experience by consolidating common setup items, like setting up a printer, connecting Bluetooth devices, changing touchpad direction, into a task list. Similarly, the Apps & Games section has been removed and replaced by discover.apps.chrome.
