On Tuesday, some Google Fi subscribers have lost mobile data connectivity after receiving a “Your SIM card is no longer active” error message.
This issue is impacting some Google Fi Wireless subscribers, but not all members are facing issues today.
The MVNO has acknowledged the issue with a banner on support.google.com/fi: “Due to a high number of contacts, wait times are longer than normal. If you get the message “Your SIM card is no longer active”: We’re aware of this issue and working to resolve it as soon as possible. Please check back later for any updates.”
Some subscribers have had luck contacting Google Fi and getting the problem resolved after support agents did something on their end. This is followed by a device reboot.
One workaround that has emerged from community members involves going to the Google Fi app and selecting a user at the top. Scroll down to “International features” and toggle off “Calls to non-US members.” You can turn it back on after a minute or so.
