Motorola’s new ‘Moto Pad’ is a US-bound, 11-inch Android tablet, and it seems decent

Motorola is launching its first new Android tablet in years (in the US) with the Moto Pad set to go on sale later this month, but pricing is a mystery for now.

Motorola hasn’t released a new Android tablet in the US in quite some time, and it seems to be wading in slowly.

The new Moto Pad is an 11-inch Android tablet with a decent, but decidedly mid-range spec sheet. The 11-inch display isn’t OLED, but hits 2K resolution (2560×1600) with a 90Hz refresh rate, an anti-fingerprint coating, and up to 500 nits brightness in its highest modes.

Under the hood, Moto Pad is packing a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip which helps to power the tablet’s 5G connectivity. That’s paired with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage (with microSD), and a 7,040 mAh battery. That battery only charges at 20W, though. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on board, and the tablet weighs in at 480g and measures 6.99mm thick.

It comes exclusively in a “Bronze Green” color option.

Whereas the latest Moto G release is doubling down with a new active pen, the Moto Pad lacks any attention to stylus input. A shame, to say the least.

Notably, Motorola sells the Moto Pad 60 Neo in other markets, which does support a “Moto Pen” and, across the board, looks very similar to this new US release. We’ve asked Motorola for more details on stylus support.

The Moto Pad is also a carrier exclusive in the States, coming to T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile on April 30. Pricing will be announced by the carrier sometime ahead of that release date, but that’s certainly going to be an important factor when considering this new slate.
