More of Google Pixel’s new 3D emoji for Android 17 have leaked, here’s a quick look [Gallery]

Earlier this week, Google revealed a first look at some new 3D redesigns for the emoji found on Google Pixel phones and other Google products, and now we’re getting a closer look at all of the changes ahead of their Android 17 release.

Love them or hate them, Google’s new 3D emoji are mere months away from launch. But, outside of a few quick images shared around this week’s The Android Show, we haven’t scratched the surface of the 4,000+ redesigns.

And we still haven’t, but a leak is showcasing a lot more of the library.

Google’s new Noto 3D emoji library was leaked by RKBDI in a post on Twitter/X and Telegram, readily showing around 250 or so of the new designs – the whole library can be installed on a rooted device. We can see a lot more of the face emoji as well as some animals and objects. The 3D revamps change the look of the emoji design more on some devices than on others – the beloved turtle, for example, looks more true to the original design than something like the skull emoji.

There are also some pretty clear (and less subjective) improvements here, such as the moon phases.

Google hasn’t officially released most of Android 17’s new emoji yet, with the redesign confirmed to arrive first on Pixel phones later this year.

Personally, I’m still on the fence with the new look – especially as the faces increasingly look like they’re copying the style found on Samsung devices, which themselves are copying Apple. Google confirmed that these new designs are human-made, not AI-generated, as some were quick to assume.
