Redmagic has officially launched the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro in China, with the global launch confirmed for July 17 as the Redmagic Astra 2, and it’s an absolute Android gaming powerhouse.
The Redmagic Astra 2 competes in the same space as the Lenovo Legion Tab, building out a powerful Android tablet designed with gaming in mind, all in a compact form factor around the same size as an iPad Mini. With today’s launch in China, we now know the full spec sheet.
Redmagic Astra 2 will have a 9.06-inch display using a 2.4K OLED panel with a 185Hz refresh rate and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. It has 4.9mm bezels around each side.

Under the hood, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is paired with Redmagic’s own RedCore R4 chip to “[balance] rendering performance, touch responsiveness, and system efficiency.” The secondary chip is used to offload some GPU tasks to improve performance, Redmagic says. As such, over 200 games will support 144Hz frame interpolation and 2K resolution.
The tablet is also cooled by a special liquid cooling system, using “industry-grade fluorinated liquid coolant” for efficient heat transfer through an active micro pump.

Redmagic Astra 2 will be powered by a 8,300 mAh battery and has two USB-C ports for charging. In China, it charges at up to 80W, but the spec for the global release hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
Rounding things out, Redmagic OS 11.5 runs the show, based on Android 16. There’s no word on software support timelines, but there’s a bunch of AI – woo!
In China, Redmagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro starts at 5,299 RMB with 12/256GB, 16/512GB, and 16/1TB variants available. There’s no word on global pricing, but the last generation started at $499 – do keep in mind that’s in the times before RAMageddon and AI companies ruined everything. We’ll find out more about the Redmagic Astra 2 on July 17.
