The XGIMI Aura 3 lineup brings Google TV to 4K 120Hz capable short-throw laser projectors

XGIMI has officially unveiled its new ultra-short-throw (UST) projector lineup at IFA 2026 with the debut of the Aura 3 Series, consisting of the AURA 3 Pro and Aura 3 Max.

Positioned as the world’s first 4K UST projectors to offer 4K 120Hz output, the series targets both high-end home theater setups and high-refresh-rate gaming on massive displays.

Both models in the Aura 3 lineup feature an RGB Triple Laser light engine paired with XGIMI’s Dynamic Dual Iris optical system. The dual-iris system regulates light output to achieve a native contrast ratio of up to 8,000:1 alongside Dynamic Black Enhancement.

The top-tier Aura 3 Max delivers up to insane 5,700 ISO lumens of brightness and covers 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut. With an ultra-short throw ratio of 0.163:1, the projector can project a 120-inch picture when placed roughly eight inches away from a wall, with supported screen sizes reaching up to 200 inches. That’s more than big enough for any home entertainment system no matter where you’re planning on making a home theater upgrade.

HDR standards supported across the lineup include Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced, along with Filmmaker Mode, dynamic tone mapping, and Anti-Rainbow Effect (Anti-RBE) technology. The system also includes support for 3D content – yes 3D content in the big ’26 – and even ships with two pairs of 3D glasses.

To handle 4K resolution at 120Hz, XGIMI uses two DLPC 8545 display controllers operating in parallel. This is really good news for gamers because high-frame-rate gaming features are enabled via HDMI 2.1 inputs, including Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), AMD FreeSync Premium, and Dolby Vision Gaming, with claimed input latency dropping as low as 1ms depending on the mode.

On the software side, the Aura 3 Series runs Google TV out of the box and, unlike some options, provides native access to all the major streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, as well as Google Cast integration. Audio is handled by an integrated 80-watt Harman Kardon speaker setup supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X. When the projector is idle, an “XGIMI WALL” ambient feature allows it to display curated wallpapers and digital art.

Pre-orders for the AURA 3 Series are open now on XGIMI’s official store. Buyers can reserve a unit ahead of time with a $50 / £50 deposit to lock in an additional $200 discount.

One of the only frustrations is that the lineup will officially launch via Kickstarter on October 20, 2026. Kickstarter exclusive pricing starts at $2,199 for the Aura 3 Pro and $2,399 for the flagship Aura 3 Max. Not cheap, but certainly one of the most space-conscious ways to refresh your home entertainment setup.
