After months in beta, Samsung is now rolling out One UI 9, based on Android 17, to select Galaxy devices.
Confirmed in a newsroom post, Samsung has officially started rolling out its One UI 9 update. This is an Android 17-based update and first debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and Flip 8 in July.
As of today, only the Galaxy S26 series – S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra – will start getting the stable update. This comes after around four months in beta, and signals that a wider rollout is likely just a few weeks away. Samsung says the update will “gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices.”
What’s new in One UI 9? Samsung’s Android 17 update has a few notable changes including:
- My FanCam: Automatic video tracking & reframing of a subject
- Generative and Editable Cards on Now Brief
- Warranty and Care details in Settings menu
- More Galaxy AI features: Now Nudge, Creative Studio, Interpreter, Document Scan, Voice Recorder
- Privacy & security features: Security Brief, Privacy Alerts, Scam Detection
In a footnote around Privacy Alerts, Samsung reveals at least a partial list of Galaxy devices that will be getting Android 17 including:
- Galaxy S26/S26 Ultra
- Galaxy S25/S25 FE
- Galaxy S24/S24 FE
- Galaxy S23/S23 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7
- Galaxy Fold 6/Flip 6
- Galaxy Z Fold 5/Flip 5
- Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra/Tab S11
- Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra/Tab S10 Plus
- Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra/Tab S9 Plus/Tab S9
That list is not exhaustive by any means – S26+ is missing, for example, and S25+/Ultra and others are also promised updates. There was also a “Fol6” typo, so while it’s a good indication of what devices will be updated, it certainly doesn’t include every single device.
