Aereo, the company currently in the middle of a Supreme Court case over a copyright dispute with US broadcasters, announced today that it’s finally bringing its live broadcast television service to Chromecast users after previously announcing in April that the service would arrive late last month. Users can now send the video content from the Aereo app for Android to a TV connected to one of Google’s $35 HDMI Chromecast streaming sticks.
Aereo is now live on the Google Chromecast™ platform. The Aereo app for Android™ is available for download in the Google Play™ store (here). Subscribers can access Aereo’s antenna and DVR technology to record and watch live broadcast television using Google’s Chromecast™.
The Aereo service is currently available to users in New York, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Antonio, and Austin and the company plans to roll out to more cities this year. Membership plans start at $8 per month.
