IFA 2014 is right around the corner and we’re expecting to see quite a bit of tech launched during the show. Sony is in attendance this year and their official press event is scheduled to happen on on Sept. 4th, 2014. Sources familiar with Sony’s plans have informed us that we can expect two new wearables to launch next week at IFA 2014…

SmartWatch 3

First up, is Sony’s SmartWatch 3. This third generation device may be a step up when compared to its predecessors due to the fact that it’s running Android Wear. The Sony Smartwatch 2 was running Android, but heavily skinned. Though Android Wear is tailored to be a wearables platform and will serve as a better OS replacement on the Sony SmartWatch 3.

The SmartWatch 3 will feature a 1.68-inch 320 x 320 display and wll be IP58 certified, but no other details have been confirmed at this point. We’ve also been informed that the Smartwatch 3 will look very similar to Samsung’s Gear 2 Neo in terms of design.

SmartBand Talk

Along with the SmartWatch 3, Sony will be launching the SmartBand Talk which is the successor to the health driven SmartBand (SWR10) line that was introduced earlier this year. This new fitness tracker will feature Bluetooth connectivity and have a curved e-ink display. No other details are available at this time, but judging by the name, it may tie in with specific phone or notification features.

Sony is finishing off the year with a handful of new products, but it doesn’t end with wearables. According to our source, the company will also be announcing three new smartphones and a waterproof tablet as well. Stay tuned for our full coverage of IFA 2014.
