Google Street View adds new imagery highlighting the best of Belgium

Google is constantly bringing new imagery to its Street View feature in Maps, and this week the search giant is highlighting new additions from around Belgium. In what it describes as “some of the best of Belgium”, the new Street View data shows off five different locations including the inside of a castle and a World War II memorial.

For history buffs, Google has included imagery you can tour of the Mardasson Memorial which honors the Battle of the Bulge from World War II. The memorial, which is located in Luxembourg, serves to honor the 76,890 US soldiers killed or wounded in the historic battle. You can view the Street View imagery embedded below.

Also included is the Meuse River—one of the five oldest rivers in the world— in Dinant. Google says it captured the scene using a combination of backpack-mounted panoramic cameras from Street View Trekkers on foot and the Street View Trolley, which features a camera system on a cart. The typical Street View Car wouldn’t be able to access the locations.

The new Street View imagery also features the City Hall from the town of Wavre, the Val Duchesse castle in Auderghem, and the OLV Ten Toon priory ruins in Grobbendonk. You can find all of the new Belgian Street View imagery on Google Maps with more embeds from Google’s Europe blog.
