Samsung announces Galaxy Tab A in two sizes, available for pre-order May 1st

Samsung has announced the newest addition to its Galaxy Tab lineup, which will ship with two different display size choices at the beginning of next month. The Galaxy Tab A includes a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor; 5 MP and 2 MP cameras on the rear and front, respectively; 16 or 32 GB of storage; and 1.5 GB of RAM.

The tablet ships with Android Lollipop, along with Samsung’s proprietary software like Milk Music, and displays everything on a 1024×768 panel. As noted above, the display is available in two different sizes—8.0 inches and 9.7 inches—but both models run at the same resolution. Users will also get 100 GB of Microsoft OneDrive storage space free for two years.

The Galaxy Tab A goes on pre-order May 1st, with the 8-inch version starting at $229 and the 9.7-inch model going for $299 for the 16 GB variant. Three colors will be available at launch: white, smokey titanium, and smokey blue. On May 17th a version of th 9.7-inch model that includes an S-Pen will be available for $349.
